Our History

Jeanne Mohr was born July 24, 1932 in Columbus Ohio daughter of Haven and Hilda Swinehart, her father was a Lutheran Minister. In 1954 Jeanne married Robert Mohr who was the son of a Baptist Minister.

Bob and Jeanne had a passion for others and packed up the family and moved to the Highlands of New Guinea as medical missionaries. For 6 years along with their children they labored among the natives. The work founded by Bob and Jeanne is flourishing today. (More will be written in the future concerning the New Guinea ministry)

Moving the family to Missouri they started Living Praise Ministries Church and Counseling Center in the 1980’s. A prolific writer, Jeanne penned a number of books, pamphlets and ministry tracts. In addition, Jeanne authored and recorded a number of Christian songs and choruses. Jeanne also conducted training sessions for aspiring writers with her “Let’s Write for Jesus” seminars.

Jeanne M. Mohr, 82, passed away on May 3, 2015 in Conroe, Texas. She was born on July 24, 1932 in Columbus, Ohio to Haven Swinehart and Hilda Wigget Swinehart. She was married to Robert Mohr from 1954 until his passing in 1998. She is survived by their four children, Robert Mohr, Steven Mohr, Christine Rathweg, and Lori Buck; ten grandchildren, Joshua, Jason, Jarod, Rebekah, Jordan, Rachel, Hannah, Jessica, Taylor, and Tyler; four great-grandchildren, Avery, Trenton, Bryn, and Jaden; and her sister, Joanne Prindle. Burial at Carmen Nelson Bostick Historic Cemetery in Tomball, Texas.
